--iTunes. It actually does install and work. But none of my iPods will work at all, and iTunes displays a dialog asking for a 32-bit Windows version..........

Any thoughts? --

Ditch iTunes, use the workaround for Windows Live, and I'm pretty sure Flash does work.

I personally don't own a 64-bit PC, so I can't comment from personal experience, but my brother has 64-bit Vista Ultimate on his PC which he uses to play the latest games all the time, and I don't think he's ran into any problems for months.

I have been running Vista 64bit for almost a month now with no major issues... I don't use iTunes so I can't comment on it...

In regards to IE Addons, are you lauching the 32bit or the 64bit version of Internet Explorer? The 64bit version does not support Flash simply because Adobe hasn't rolled out a 64bit version of Flash. If you run the 32bit version of IE you shouldn't have any problems with Flash or any other IE addon; I haven't.

Thanks to all. I'll be updating this post in a moment, but a few thoughts...

Cfischer83: I will absolutely be getting a Zune (2). Time will tell if this can replace the iPod, but the point here is that I do use iPods now, as do millions of other people, so it should work.

mdsharpe: I've only tried Half-Life 2 Episode Two so far on x64 but, yes, it works fantastically. That's good news, because gamers are the types who would gravitate towards x64.

frazell: I tried both IE versions, but there's something screwy going on. I agree this should just work.

I've been running x64 Vista since it came out, and before that XP64, both with very little trouble.

I did have some issue originally with my SATA RAID hard drives, but i sorted them out after a few hours fiddling.

Almost everything else works fine, except the occasional small freeware app. Even itunes works fine, syncs with the pod no problems.

As mentioned things like half life 2 have native 64bit support and work great

Paul, i'm experiencing troubles in IE7 under Vista x86 (32-bit) with the latest Flash plugin causing it to close when multiple windows are open.  Usually one or two open tabs are fine, and YouTube seems to work with a few, but it seems to be mostly sites that use Flash-based ads that cause the problem.  It only seems to result with several tabs (8 or more) each with Flash ads.  Maybe it's some kind of memory leak or something (?)....

Even on WinInformant, the Flash-based ads cause it to crash when multiple tabs OR windows are open.  I usually get the error along the lines of "A plugin has caused an error, and as a result IE has to close", with FLASH9b.OCX causing the issue.

I keep thinking that Adobe's programmers are as inept with Windows Vista as Apple's....the whole debacle around CS2 apps and forced upgrading is at least slight proof of that.

MVP's on the forums did in fact say that Microsoft "announced" x64 support on the "Live 2.0" launch.  Expect another beta closer to launch that includes it.  The same was true with OneCare 2.0 beta - the original public beta didn't have x64 support but now it does.
