Yeahhh !!!!!!!!

The 2nd episode of the fight regarding the Lies of Apple that enjoy announcing figures and then retracts just to punish the iTunes users as well as their business !!! ... And the "Debacle of Leopard !!!!" which as everybody knows shipped with none of the 300+ features announced !! What a bunch of Liars !

Paul: I still don't understand the basis of your labeling these Apple statements "lies". To lie is to knowingly tell a falsehood with the intent to deceive. To show that someone has lied, it's not enough to show they spoke falsely.  You must show they knew they were speaking falsely at the time, and did so meaning to deceive.  (All kids know this by the time they are five.)

Your original post gave no evidence of knowledge or intent. You simply observed what MacWorld had already observed: that something Apple announced had proven to be false.  That, in itself, is not lying.

If you have proof of lying (documents, emails, insider info showing knowledge and intent) you should give it.  If you don't, and didn't have when you posted, then you should rethink your position. You can say: "In my opinion they were lying"  but nothing stronger than that.

By the way, I think that *many* claims about Microsoft "lying" are mistaken in exactly the same way.

Umm yeah did anyone else in the press use the word "lies"?  

You truly are desperate for readers.  Did you go to the Michael Savage school of journalism??

Paul, you should take note of how professional journalists steer clear of incendiary language like "lying" when they have no proof to back it up.  I'm not sure why you don't take these language and tone issues more seriously as a writer.  It's pretty hard to not to come back to drumming up hits for the website by pissing people off.

Waethorn:  Funny, I've been enjoying every single feature Steve demonstrated in leopard since every one is in the product and works as advertised.  How's WinFS treating you?

The issue in not WIN vs. Mac.  The issue is whether Paul, who presents himself as a neutral observer (and who, in my opinion, has raised some legitimate issues about Apple in the past), has substantiated the main claim of his original post.  

He has not.  

The central claim of the post was that Apple had lied.  But *no* - repeat *no* - evidence was offered for this claim.  

This is simply bad journalism/reporting/blogging.  It leaves the author open to charges of bias and/or cheap sensationalism.

Just fine thanks - Windows Home Server's new file system, coupled with Windows Search Server is what's come of it - a metadata-driven file system with single instance storage and instant searching.  And no, none of my systems experience the supposed "data loss" problem.  It only affects slow WHS boxes, of which I don't make or sell.

ya, you know, if you get excited with where they place the playback control in the DVD player, i guess Leopard is just worth it.
