Halo 3: Legendary Map Pack (and a free theme)

Halo 3 is a decent title at best--in other words, not a classic--but it's nice to see Bungie supporting their loyal community with additional content:

Content: Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack
Price: 800 Microsoft Points
Availability: All Xbox LIVE Regions
Size: 411.34 MB
Dash Text:[ESRB: M (Mature) BLOOD AND GORE,MILD LANGUAGE,VIOLENCE] The Legendary Map Pack blends old and new. Ghost Town’s asymmetrical mix of confined spaces and long lines of fire makes for frenetic games. Avalanche re-imagines the original Halo classic, Sidewinder, with new features, tweaked vehicles and massive outdoor spaces. Significant changes bring big improvements to the map, yet its contours and cliffs should provide a welcome sense of familiarity. Blackout, on the other hand, is the purest remake to date – all time favorite Lockout gets a graphical overhaul, but retains its challenging mix of ramps, platforms, tunnels and hallways. There are no refunds for this item.

Plus:
Content: Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack Dash Theme (available via the in dash banner promoting the DLC)
Price: Free
Availability: All Xbox LIVE regions
Dash Text: Time to spruce up your Xbox Live Dashboard theme with this brand new, Legendary Map Pack-inspired theme, featuring images, moments and atmosphere from the latest batch of Halo 3 DLC. The Human industrial grit of Blackout, the wintry vastness of Avalanche and the gloomy ruin of Ghost Town will be a welcome aesthetic boost for fans of Dashboard themes.

And if you’re in Canada or the U.S.:

Content: Halo 3 Legendary Registration Gamer Picture
Price: Free

Dash Text: Downloading this gamer picture enters US and Canadian residents in the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack promotion. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. It isn't just nice... It is amazing.  Blackout is Lockout redone, and it is almost a perfect remake of an already perfect map.  Finally, with the release of a Lockout clone, Halo 3 feels like Halo 2 again.  Since Halo 2 was a classic, Halo 3 will most certainly go down in history as a classic game, and the release of these amazing new maps only helps.

Paul,

I was with you on Halo. Good game, but only because I love co-op. I'm in my 30's, I'm an accountant, and I'm busy (not as busy as you). When I get a chance to play multi player it is a mess. I get frustrated and annoyed and usually bail within 5 minutes. All of this comes down to Halo being mediocre.

Along comes my brother in law who tells me I have to try multiplayer. He sets up a lobby. We join a deathmath together, we only hear one another. Now we have a regualr game with a regualr crew once per month. We have the best time. Now I love multiplayer and realize the true genious of Halo. A multiplayer engine (interface actually) that is now being copied all over the place (COD4). I would say the multiplayer is so good that it might actually attract non FPS people to the genre.

My 0.5 cents. Love your blog, would love to hear more about WHS!
