Windows Feature Comparison

Microsoft provides a white paper showing some differences between Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista with Service Pack 1:

Brief Description
This white paper compares the following features and capabilities of Windows XP with SP3 and Windows Vista with SP1: security, management, deployment, mobility, and productivity.

Overview
This white paper helps customers compare Windows Vista advancements with Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Using this comparison, customers can adjust their expectations for the security, management, deployment, mobility, and productivity of either operating system. For each feature or capability, each section compares key Windows Vista advancements against Windows XP.

Versions of the document are available in XPS and PDF formats.

I haven't looked at this yet, but I'm nervous it's going to duplicate some of my findings from the upcoming "XP Good Enough" part 2 article....

Fear not, Paul. What I've found in that document is basically marketing stuff for convincing people that Vista is far more better than his poor old brother XP.

In fact there is no real life working scenario like the one you've provided in your "good enough" article.

In fact, XP is ok for most people if they have an updated anti virus and the windows firewall on.

I use both of them and I like them both. In my humble opinion Vista is running better than XP on the same modern hardware and is a huge step forward in the right direction.

But, XP is still good enough for most people and will remain so during this whole year.

Most of the document is security stuff. It's mostly things I.T. pros SHOULD already be familiar with in Vista (although reading things like Informationweek, PCWorld, WSJ and PCMag, I'm not sure any of these guys really are I.T. pros).... it's not until the end that they really get into the 'average Joe' features (i.e. those features we all use and love once we find them), which IMO, they should be focusing on to repair the unwarranted Vista rep out there.
