Server Quest

LOL. Microsoft has created a King's Quest-type game—complete with EGA graphics and a horrible 80's-era soundtrack—called Server Quest that's designed to um, promote something ... or something. It's cute.

Yeah, they're having us play the game here at TechEd 2008 and the highest score of the day gets a Zune (what a prize!).

It's actually pretty fun, if you grew up on the Sierra games.

Since the topic is video games, and Paul neglected to mention it in his WinInfo short takes, the May NPD numbers are out and:

* The 360 came in third

* Five of the top ten software SKUs are for the Wii. Seven of the top ten are for Nintendo systems.

* The PS3 is selling around 250% what it did last year but GTAIV on the 360 almost doubled what the PS3 version sold.

* 63% of the top 30 titles for May appeared on a Nintendo-branded system.  This is NOT just a casual gaming system.  Can you say myth?

* Wii software units sold = 2,057,600 while everyone else sold 1,653,800

"Ocean", that simply can't be true. Paul already told us that no one buys games for the Wii. I read it on the "Supersite" so it must be true. Your "facts" must be wrong.

Ocean, correct or not, excuse my french but can you please bloody stop your tirade of unrelated comments on every post Paul makes? It's just getting somewhat tiresome to see you pop up taking jabs everywhere. Post this where it's relevant, it's not relevant to this blog post.

Lilserenity--   ***every*** post?  No where close.  I'm wondering if all these people crying about offtopic posts are really real people?  They don't seem to follow my other posts...it's been all aboout the iPhone all week long.  That and the iCabal...

One more thats interesting:

*  Year-to-date, Guitar Hero III has sold 2.5 million units compared to Rock Band's 1.3 million which lands them both in the top 10 titles for the year so far... but the Wii version of GHIII is the only one in the top 10.  GH 3 has already sold more on the Wii than on the 360 and PS3.

Funny how they emulate the old Sierra AGI, but the sound is reminiscent of the AdLib FM synth (ie. OPL2/3) days which didn't come around until SCI was released.

This is laughable.  In the same post talking about how you don't troll in ***every*** post, you go ahead and troll right here in this post, twice.
