myFUNAMBOL mobile sync portal

This looks interesting and could be a solution to anyone looking for push email, contacts, and calendar functionality for the iPhone (or other supported mobile device):

Get mobile email on your phone NOW!

With a few clicks, get push email from Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, and POP/IMAP systems on your phone.

Backup contacts & calendar over the air!

Wirelessly backup your phone's contacts and calendar. Sync with a single click, anytime, anywhere.

Use Outlook with your iPhone or iPod!

This is a breeze with the Funambol portal, Outlook plug-in, iPhone app, and iPod plug-in.

From Help:

What is myFUNAMBOL?

It is a free service that allows you to:

  • Get email pushed to your mobile phone from virtually any of your email accounts
  • Perform over-the-air backup or synchronization of your contacts and calendar across your mobile phone, Outlook, and even iPod devices
  • Use contacts from myFUNAMBOL on an iPhone

Important: To use this service, your mobile phone must have an Internet connection (e.g. GPRS, EDGE, UMTS) and a mobile data plan. Without a data plan, you may incur costly data charges. If you are unsure about your data plan, check with your mobile operator.

The catch—and there's always a catch—is that unfortunately you need to have a jailbroken iPhone to use this (right now). My guess is that this requirement will change once the Software Update 2.0 is out, but there is also a Web app you can use for now.

Thanks to Jeremy B. for the tip.

I use Verizon's Wireless Sync... and while it's not pretty it gets the job done.  The one problem I have is it doesn't work with Mac.... so I need to use the browser to get to my data.  No big deal, but I wish it would work with Office for Mac.  I use Entourage on the Mac (I'm an Outlook guy on Windows) and am looking for a nice cross-platform sync'ing solution
