Windows Live OneCare 2.0 is free on Amazon.com

Just a head's-up: If you want Windows Live OneCare, you can get it for free (after rebate) on Amazon.com right now.

Update: You can stretch the free period to 15 months if you install the 90-day free trial from the Web first and then let it expire before using the Product Key you purchase with the Amazon box. Thanks to Wayne S. for the tip!

Very interesting. Is Microsoft after the anti-malware industry now?

MS has actually been doing deals with One Care for awhile now, though not always for free. When I got Windows Vista at launch, Best Buy had a deal with it alongside that purchase, and when I bought 2.0, they were selling it for half price. I think MS is kind of serious about it all, and honestly, it's the better of the bunch.

Thanks for the tip. I have 3 Windows PCs at home (MacBook running Vista Business, iMac running Vista Ultimate, Dell running XP Pro) and one package will protect all of them for free.

This is a good deal. MS is good for thier rebates with great customer service with it as well, if there is a problem. I just had the Virtumonde virus/trojan that was NOT detected by newest version of McAfee with all the latest updates/definitions, but OneCare got rid of it. Also, the $45 subscription is for up to 3 computers. I just found out that many in  my group use it, as well as some of our IT people. All I can say is...sold!!!

Thanks Paul.

Wrong.  You can renew with another store-bought copy.

I liked OneCare when i tested it out but I already have AVG license and they've seemed to have finally ironed out the bugs for AVG 8 on Vista.

I must say with OneCare my bootup was about 5-7secs shorter than with AVG8.

First picked up this free deal at cheapskate 30 days ago.

Ms sent refund in less than 30 days.

Fast, intuitive,runs in background

My 360 subscription ran out, symantec wanted  60 bucks. I started with this sight and read all i could about one care, including the ms onecare forum.

Decision was a no brainer after reading the kudos.

Support from ms was complete and fast.

I had a question about incremental defrag.

If you have other security apps get rid of them, Symantec has a couple of uninstallers on their website

Caution   you will have to set windows update to notify you after install, and you will get an annoying balloon but you will have choice not automatic updates.

Overall this is a 8 from ms.

I would like to see a complete system backup, whats the big deal. Its available on ultimate. I run winvista sp1

Thanks to you all
