3-Alarm Fire Burns At Apple Cupertino Campus

CBS News:

Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a three-alarm fire Tuesday night at the Apple Inc. headquarters in Cupertino, but preliminary information suggests it was accidental, a fire captain said.

I'd look for an Apple TV sitting on a pile of paper. :)

But seriously, I'm glad no one was hurt. And especially glad I'm not a suspect.

@Doc: By the way, did you check this message on the site:

"EDIT: Apparently, this is completely Photoshopped, and our skills at recognizing fake pictures are about as good as our skills staying sober. Sorry for the false information! But I have put some other cool blue screens at the bottom for fun."

Here's their original post:

"Technical difficulties? Good thing not too many people saw it. It was only right there next to the FLYING MAN at the OPENING CEREMONIES for the 2008 OLYMPIC GAMES. PC's blue screen of death soared to heights previously thought impossible in Beijing a few days ago.  Failure on such a grand scale is truly awe-inspiring. Whether photoshopped or not, the Sloshspot team, who just happen to be Mac lovers, got a good laugh out of this."

Also, all BSODs are photoshopped by Mac fanatics to make Microsoft look bad. I'm sure the one I received on my computer was actually done by John Papola. It was a coded warning message, "Don't come to NYC." Don't believe me? John has a Mac. Macs can do anything.

It looks like this is a distortion field. Any security report that claims Apple is bad, is from an industry trusted company, but if it claims Windows is bad, then the company is wrong or not to be trusted. Apple news here gets applauded when bad and rationalized no matter how trivial, but bad MS news gets used, followed by red herrings, and the source is not to be trusted. I can go on but you see the point. The BSOD thing is no big deal and has numerous sources if you just Google, but i get called a fanboy when I am actually the only non-biased person at this site, or one of the very few. however, Sloshdot gives an unverified opinion, but do show some great PS shots of how it could be true.

Like I stated in two posts long ago, Steve Ballmer gave a great interview [to CNET I think] and was a complete professional gentleman who only complemented the competition when they tried to flamebait him, then quickley discussed MS product or vision/idea that was competing. Also, when some douchebag threw [and missed] eggs at him  [in Germany I think], the man was escorted out and Steve laughed it off and said somthing like  'Well at least it was a 'civil' complaint." He was as courteous and professional as anyone could have been. Very respectful. I was impressed with the integrity that he demonstrated. This was a couple months ago or so.

Sorry, but Gizmodo has never been the most trustworthy source. This is not aimed at MS or Apple, just at Gizmodo. They confirmed the article based on one poster, who apparently saw something blue in his DVR recording and decided that it did indeed match the BSOD colors.

"The BSOD thing is no big deal and has numerous sources if you just Google, but i get called a fanboy ..."

Who called you a fanboy? At least I didn't ... unless you're the one who photoshopped the image. that is.

Don't take this personally. None of this was aimed at you. At least from my side, it was aimed at the Gizmodos and the Engadgets, who like to post sensational stories without ever verifying them.

No prob Sharkster.  People make too much out of the BSOD. If they just read the causes, they would see that they are usually a hardware problem or a third party driver/app, not Windows. Yep, they appear somewhere around the world daily, since there are around a billion computers, but blaming Windows just doesn't make sense because of the main causes above. It kinda shows that a person blaming the OS for the BSOD just doesn't know what they are talking about, IMO. So, BSOD seen in public a few times each year when computers are in the media so much to me = BFD.

Yes, I was directly refering to the Voyager Episodes "Future's End" and "Future's End Part II." Its one of my favorite Voyager episodes. The Hyper Pro PC in the episode bares strong resemblance to an Apple Mac, I couldn't resist. The title character of Henry Starling reminds me a lot of Steve Jobs with a hint of Bill Gates.

As for the fire, a very low yield photon torpedo would have rendered similar results.

Since there's always conspiracy theories about all things, I might as well indulge some creative licence here.

Peace.
