I had a good chuckle with it. Paul, you should take him up on making a more rockin' Windows Weekly theme. Just to make him feel better.

Please dump it!  I've always hated the current theme - the guitar solo sounds like a kid I knew in high school that was famous for one-note solos..  Get Allchin's song or something else to replace the current theme.  

Poor Derek. Aside from being a Microsoft fanboy and obvious Apple hater, who knew that Paul was also a thoughtless, insensitive jerk who liked to crush the hopes and dreams of the little guy in his spare time. ;)

I have an idea - maybe you should do a Windows Daily podcast. Then you can have 5 theme songs like DGW and make everyone happy.

Maybe one of the themes could be done using Songsmith. :-)

I doubt anyone ever expected to hear the words "Really rocks - like Jim Allchin rocks".

That said - I'd stick with the current theme.  The video proves that Derek is obviously a legend.

Allchin's song "Enigma Machine" reminds me of a MIDI artist that went by the name Michael "Keyboard Wizard" Walthius.  His MIDI tracks went from rock guitar to softy stuff in much the same way:

Heh. Aside from the guitar solos (which are smokin' hot) there isn't much else to recommend on Allchin's vanity project. The vocals are only slightly better than the lyrics, which are only marginally improved over the horrific "Look Ma, I got a Casio for Christmas!" arrangements.

I think it's funny as heII that it wound up on the "What we're listening to" front page of iTunes, though.

I had to go listen to the opening theme song. Since I started to "watch" Windows Weekly, I haven't downloaded a podcast version of the show in a while. I like the current theme song. I mean, it's not bad and it's not "OMG! I must have that ditty!" It's aight.

Does the iPhone support OTA podcast updates?  I listen in via RSS Hub (ie. Newsbreak) on my phone with OTA updates, or via PSP, or sometimes I watch the live feed when I have time.  I wish there were more video podcasts though.  I like catching up on video segments of The Hour on my phone.  RSS video feeds seem to be overlooked and underappreciated IMO, but it's a good video publishing platform that's also standardized.

BTW:  Telus just released RUU2 for the Touch Diamond.  It's like getting a battery and processor upgrade.  It's nice.  I had to reload my data from a backup, but everything is muchfaster and memory usage is a lot lower.  Having wifi and OTA data on at the same time no longer eats the battery up either.
