Woohoo!

I have not played with it much, just got it installed. I did find one issue. The default ram setting is 256 meg with no option to change that.

Not sure how to explain it.  The ram setting is in the settings gui.  The VM has to be turned off (not hybernated) to change it.

Installed Win7 on an Asus R1F tabletPC a few days ago: 1.66GHz C2D, 1GB RAM.

Installed XP Mode last night, have been playing with it a bit.

By itself, win7 uses almost exactly 500MB RAM.

With XP Mode running and an IE6 instance open, the system uses an average of 770-800MB. All the while, running rather smoothly considering the tablet's specs. I'm impressed.

I have not found a way to turn off the VM without it closing. Will look into it more tonight.

It's just like a regular system.  Shut it down normally and then you can tinker with the settings in the Virtual PC console.

WIndows 7 FAIL

Robertsjoe, that would work, if it wasn't for three quite important things.

1) if file extensions are hidden then no other file would have ".txt" shown after it it would stand out like a sore thumb.

2)explorer still shows the file's type as "application" in the details pane, and in the actual list view (this is even shown in the link you had)

3)this is the really important one to remember.... if it is an app that wants access to your system, then it will IMMEDIATELY bring up a confirmation when you try to run it, making it very clear that this is an application, and not a simple text file.

Remeber, f-secure is in the business of selling their product too.

Waaait a second! XP Mode works on your Tablet?!? Which exact C2D is that? I don't imagine many 1,66GHz CPUs supporting VT.. ??? Either that, or XP Mode works on any CPU after all?? :-O

Tablet PC's aren't often made too often for the low-cost consumer segment, so I'd say it's likely it's a higher-end CPU, if maybe an LV or ULV model.

The Atom Z520 runs at 1.33GHz and has VT.

I have a notebook with a CPU listed on Ed Bott's list as NOT being VT capable yet it runs Virtual XP fine. Still have not found a way to change the settings of the VM. If I shut down the XP VM it closes the window. I have no way of getting to the settings without the VM window being open but in order for it to be open XP has to running which means I cannot change the settings. I must be missing something. I can go into the settings on VirtualBox no problem, change whatever I want. Can't seem to get there with the Beta Virtual PC XP VM.
