Google is just integrating Picasa with their Youtube service - something people could do with any photo sharing service, if they were so inclined to - and also their offline Picasa client.

Once again, Google comes to our rescue with a me-too service. How much longer till they become equated with a M$FT for being all too controlling on all aspects of our lives??

I meant face recognition and the screenshot has since been changed to a mockup

Still, screenshot or not, it looks like face recognition is about to be the next must-have feature.

Liveside reported back on July 24th that Windows LIve Photo Gallery would have this (complete with screenshot) so it looks like we're seeing the next battleground feature

I like nesting tags (for instance I have a first level tag called "Locations", then second level is all of the locations where photos are. I do the same with People and Events). Windows Photo Gallery offers this and does a great job.

Another problem with Picasa2 was that Albums couldn't be shared across a network. You can point a local copy of Picasa to a mapped drive to share the images, but all the tags still reside on each machine where the tag is made. I tried FolderShare to make all of the computers have the same Album files, but it constantly reverted my changes (such as flip and rotate). Very irritating.

Google effects Windows. Seriously, Picasa is a great photo management solution for PC users and Paul would be doing a disservice to his readers if he didn't talk about it.

But... be outraged if you want to... it doesn't make sense, but if you really feel the need, go ahead.
