I ran Vista on the same Mac...with Vista, I gave it 2GB of RAM and it it fly...it was OK....wasn't really a FAN of Vista, but I was just playing with it, not really going to "use" it as my main VM....

The "experimental" Windows 7 update didn't allow me to select how much RAM and HD space to allocate to the Win7 VM...it just defaulted it to 1GB of RAM, and 32GB (I believe) of HD...

The experience was night and day better than Vista....the machine (VM) felt fast and peppy...

Not a fan of Aero Snaps...in fact, I hate it....there are times I just move a window up to the top of the screen, and then the damn thing maximizes when I just wanted to move it out of the way.....I'm sorry but when I want to drag and drop something from one place to another, I don't need to have both windows each take up 50% of the screen to do it...I can easily just grab the corner, resize the window to something reasonable, do it with the other window too, and let the drag-drop operation commence....

All this hubbub about putting running programs and shortcuts on the same bar....way too much is being made of it...it's fine.

All in all, from what I've seen so far in Win7...I likey....I likey alot!

I have an explanation.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Take the case of one robertsjoe. An individual so obsessed with his Apple computer that he blogs on sites dedicated to its rival Windows. Without rhyme, reason, or logic for that matter, he spouts random bits of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt in feelbe attempts to persuade Windows users to buy Apple. Unhindered by his extreme unpopularity and by intelligent posters who refute everything he says, robertsjoe continues his fanboyish tyrades unabashed in his ignorance. However, the world would change on Sunday, January 11th of the year Two Thousand and Nine.

As he logged into Safari, he saw that Windows 7 Beta testers and pundits were lauding praise on Microsoft's newest OS. Even Mac users to his utter shock and horror were....

(Cue music) DUN, DUN, DUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loading copies of Windows 7 on their Macbooks! No, it just wasn't on Macbooks. It was being loaded on Macbook Pro's, iMacs, Mac Mini's, Macbook Air's, and Macbook Pro's.

"How could this be? Mac's are superior!" robertsjoe said to himself. "This is impossible."

Then robertsjoe went to the Apple Support forums for Bootcamp and saw this...

discussions.apple.com/category.jspa

discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa

"I have to stop this. Stop the insanity." said the wily blogger.

So he raced to the Supesite for Windows, but it was too late. It was all over the Internet....

Mac users were using Windows 7 and the last fragile piece of sanity cracked in the poor man's head. Picture if you will, a man who teeters between the imaginary and the reality of things. A man lost in a multi-OS world where its no longer black or white, communist or capitalist, and OS'es are now variable shades of grey. A man lost without the OS that defines him, betrayed by the company who told him his computer was superior. RobertsJoe, you are now in the TWILIGHT ZONE!!

www.youtube.com/watch

(Enjoy! Peace.)

My buddy with a very high end custom computer was running Vista SP1 fine. Then his mobo died. He claimed that they could not find the exact mobo to replace [ I don't think they really looked too hrd] and gave him a top line ASUS. He was getting BSOD until he updated the video card driver. Now he gets system freezes, so he must work it all out again, but the point is that Vista ran fine before the mobo upgrade. It relly sucks since I am the one that recommended the custom build company.

When it's the shoddy OS that's the root of the problem."

And you know this how? Hardware problems are often at the root of a BSOD, and if not that, it IS most likely a driver issue. If you look at the crash data for Vista, which I know you won't or really don't care, you will see that a very large percentage of those early crashes for Vista were traced to the shoddy drivers that NVidia put out.

Likewise, did you blame Apple for a shoddy OS when the problems started appearing upgrading to Leopard that were mostly traced to a particular third party app?
